Jacob Ike Rives, born on June 30, 1991, in Kingman, AZ passed away on January 1, 2025 at the age of 33. He was the beloved son of Ike and Katherine Rives. He is affectionately remembered for his kind spirit who truly loved people and deeply desired to make those around him happy.
Jacob grew up in Texas, graduating from MacArthur High School in 2009. There he developed his passion to become an amazing musician. His unique way of playing the trombone earned him the nickname "Blowfish", which he carried with pride. While he will always be known as a trombonist, his musical genius enabled him to pick up any instrument and begin playing as a natural. Later he would go on to perform with many different ensembles, sharing his gifts and his love of music.
Jacob moved to West Texas to study music, and it was during that time he found his calling in the restaurant industry. His skill in the kitchen was remarkable and soon he became adept at creating culinary works of art. He was constantly furthering his training and enjoyed studying under the chefs he worked alongside.
Growing up, he also had a special affection for animals, especially reptiles. Throughout the years, he always had such interesting pets. But his most cherished were his two dogs, Emma and Billy.
Jacob is survived by his mother, Katherine Rives of Midlothian, TX; 2 sisters, Autumn Johnson and husband Matthew of Virginia and Olivia Rives and Aaryn Pratt of Midlothian, TX; grandfather Johnny Rives of Henderson, TX; nephews and niece, Nolan, Caiden, Cameron, and Riley Johnson, and many Aunts, Uncles, and Cousins who all love him and will miss him more than words can express.
He was preceded in death by his father, Ike Rives; maternal grandmother, Lois Holmes White; paternal grandmother, Elizabeth Ann Rives; maternal grandfather, Lynn Clovis White; and cousin, Brian Palmer.
