Amberly Burnett O'Brien, 47 of Borger, Texas was born on August 24, 1977, in Freeport, Texas, to Ernest Burnett and Shirley Smith Burnett. She passed away peacefully on July 9, 2025.
Amberly lived life to the fullest—wild, free, and with a passionate heart. She loved her daughters and her family fiercely. Never one to meet a stranger, Amberly formed a wide and loving circle of friends who became her chosen family.
A devoted fan of Houston sports, Amberly especially cherished her Houston Astros. If her teams were playing, you could be sure she was watching—cheering them on with unmatched enthusiasm.
She was preceded in death by her father, Ernest Burnett; and her grandparents, Steve and Frances Burnett, and Jacob and Maxie Smith.
Amberly is survived by her beloved daughters, Lauren Williams and Riley O'Brien; her mother, Shirley Smith Burnett, and partner, Thomas Zaehler; her sister, Brandi "Nici" Groen, and husband Aaron; as well as her treasured nephews and nieces, Gage and Seth Chronister, August Chronister, Hailey and Vanessa Groen, her extended family and countless friends who she embraced as family.
A celebration of Amberly's life will be held on August 23, 2025 in honor of what would have been her 48th birthday at Oyster Creek Municipal Park, in Oyster Creek, Tx.
Amberly's spirit, love, and laughter will live on in all who knew her.
