Obituary

Andy Lee Ezell, 72, of Amarillo, Texas, passed away September 16, 2026.

Services will be Thursday, September 24, at 11 a.m. at Journey Church. Burial will be at Memory Gardens Cemetery. Arrangements are made by Shafer Funeral Home, 1502 S. Cleveland.

Andy was born October 14, 1953, to Evelyn McGinty and Carl Clyde Ezell in Clearwater, FL. He graduated from Jordan High School in Long Beach, CA, in 1972 and enlisted in the U.S. Army, serving in Vietnam and Germany before being honorably discharged in 1974.

Andy returned to Amarillo in 1977, meeting the love of his life, Brenda, in March while they were both working at Save a Stop. There was no turning back. He married her four short months later on July 23, 1977. Together they raised 3 beautiful children, Michael, Brandy, and Deanna. They loved all things outdoors, whether it was going to the family cabin, riding four-wheelers, or camping at the lake. On Sundays, they could be found enjoying NASCAR.

Andy worked many jobs throughout his life, from Save a Stop, Builders Emporium, and Owens Corning, prior to building a career with Frank’s Plumbing for almost 30 years as a Licensed Plumber. Where he taught and helped raise an entire generation of plumbers. Andy was a man of many trades with a strong work ethic; he could build cabinets, lay flooring and tile, and fix anything on a car. If he wasn’t sure how to do something, he would find the answer or figure it out. He loved to paint anything ceramic, canvas, and color by numbers.

Andy loved his family, and that may have started with blood, but definitely ran deeper than anyone could imagine. He was Dad, Daddy, Pops, Bawbaw, Big Brother, and Uncle Andy to many. Once you were in, you were not just a friend; you were family, and you knew it. He leaves a large legacy and will definitely be missed by many.

He was preceded in death by the love of his life, Brenda Ezell; his parents, Evelyn McGinty Stovall and Carl Clyde Ezell; 2 brothers, David Ezell and Robert Ezell; and 1 sister, Kathy Craft.

Survived by his brother, Roy Ezell and wife Kelly; sister, Cori Long and husband Elton; 1 brother-in-law, Larry Keadle and wife Carol; 1 son, Michael Ezell and wife Monica; 2 daughters, Brandy Ezell Sabedra and Deanna Wrinkle; Jesse Ramonez, Michael Wrinkle, and Bobby Sabedra. Grandchildren Skyler Ezell, Shane Ezell Bryant, Makynzee Ramonez, Skyla Ezell, Hayden Wrinkle, Faith Ramonez, Benjamin Ramonez, Silas Ezell, Haylee Wrinkle, Jonathan Zavala, Creighton Ringo, and Wendy Wrinkle. Great-grandkids Emily, Austin, Tristan, Zayleigh, Penelope, Taicyn, Knoxlee, Walter, and Wesley. Many nieces, nephews, and cousins, as well as a very large extended family from Frank’s Plumbing.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to the family at Frank’s Plumbing.

The family will receive friends from 6-8 Wednesday, September 23, at the funeral home.
