Anita Marie Townsend, age 67, of Amarillo, Texas, joined her Savior in Heaven on Wednesday, July 1, 2026.

Anita was born in Amarillo on February 28, 1959, to Forest W. and Iola B. Scott. She loved growing up in a large family, with her five sisters and two brothers. She credited her dad as being her favorite track coach as she enjoyed sports in her youth. Anita was very proud of her mother for being a nurse.

After graduating from Tascosa High School in 1977, Anita continued her education at Amarillo College and WTSU.

Anita married Terry Townsend in the Joseph A. Hill Memorial Chapel on the WT campus on January 27, 1983. They enjoyed celebrating 43 loving wedding anniversaries. To their union was born two handsome sons. Anita loved being mom to Joshua and Matthew.

Anita loved to travel, watch the sun set, read, watch movies, collect angels and crosses, and spending time at the ocean. She had a flare for style and grace. Anita was a woman of compassion, strength and deep devotion to God, family and country. She was long-time member of Trinity Fellowship Church.

After becoming a Certified Nursing Assistant, Anita worked at Thomas E. Creek Veteran’s Hospital for 10 years, prior to her retirement on February 13, 2026.

Anita was proceeded in death by her parents and her brother, Tommy. She is survived by her beloved husband, Terry; her two sons and their families; Joshua (Alexis) and their children, Addison, Langston and the blessing on the way; Matthew (Lark) and their children, Ember and Damon. She loved her beautiful daughters-in-law and her precious grandchildren.

Anita is also survived by her sisters; Janet, Connie, Karen, Denise and Brenda; and her brother, Michael. She was also loved by many nieces, nephews, sisters-in-law, and brothers-in-law. She will be greatly missed and forever remembered in our hearts.

Wednesday, July 22, 2026, at 10:00AM, a celebration of Anita’s life will be held in the Trinity Fellowship Student Ministry building at 5000 Hollywood Rd., Amarillo, Tx, 79118.

Flowers may be sent to the TFC Student Ministry building. In lieu of flowers, memorial

donations may be made to Trinity Fellowship Church.
