Obituary

Arlyne Mae Sikon was born in Dearborn, MI on July 3, 1942, lived in New Baltimore, MI and eventually settled in Amarillo, TX in 1975 as a single parent of three daughters. She worked for several years at Bell Helicopter as a mechanic but retired in 2005 as an in-home caretaker of the elderly. Arlyne passed on May 7, 2025, at the age of 82 at BSA hospital in Amarillo, TX.

Arlyne is survived by two daughters, Arlyne (Mokey) Marie Sikon of Amarillo, TX and Tammy Thompson of Oklahoma City, OK, one nephew, Shane Killham of Amarillo, TX, one grandson, Robert McKown of Amarillo, TX, and several great grandchildren. She is predeceased by her parents, John Sylvester and Ingrid Gustafson Sylvester of Rose City, MI, her two sisters, Sharon Kosinski of New Baltimore, MI and Sandra Killham of Amarillo, TX, her youngest daughter, Sandra McKown of Amarillo, TX, one grandson, Jonathan Sikon of Amarillo, TX, and one nephew, Jim Killham of Amarillo, TX.

Arlyne was a devoted mother and an avid writer. She had several short stories and poems published in magazines and was a featured writer in a book entitled "From Grandma with Love", a Legacy of Values. Her piece was entitled "A Boat of My Own". Additionally, she loved gardening and the outdoors, making hand-stitched quilts, boating and fishing and being by the water in general, watching her favorite football teams take the field, Michigan Wolverines, Nebraska Cornhuskers, and the Oklahoma Sooners, and least we not forget taking trips to the casino with her sister, Sandra Killham and her scratch off lottery tickets. Arlyne was a spiritual person and was always seen reading her bible or listening to K-LOVE to hear the word of God. She will be deeply missed by her daughters, friends, family, and all who knew her.

A funeral service is scheduled for 2:00pm on May 17, 2025, at Shafer Mortuary Services at 1502 South Cleveland St, Amarillo, TX 79102. Informal wear is acceptable. Burial will follow at Dreamland Cemetery at 26500 South U.S. 87, Canyon, TX 79015. Flowers, donations and condolences may be offered using the link provided on the Shafer Mortuary Services website.
