Obituary

Bob McAlister received his ultimate victory in Jesus on Saturday, April 13 - he is worshipping the Lord with his beloved wife Betty, his daughter Merri, his grandson Nathan, his parents and brothers, and many more loved ones in Heaven.

Bob was born on May 30, 1929 to Otis McAlister and Flossie Belle Toms. As one of four boys, he had a great many adventures growing up in Texas despite the conditions brought on by the Great Depression, the Dust Bowl, and World War II. Whether it was riding the train with his brothers to go visit his grandparents and spending their nightly layover in Dallas sleeping in the public parks, to his first job as an usher and popcorn popper at age 10 at a local movie theatre, to ensuring his friends got a little extra ice cream when he was employed as a "soda jerk" at a local drugstore in high school, Bob's boyhood was one he treasured.

When he and his family moved to Dalhart, Texas in the 1940s, Bob met Betty Enfield, who became the love of his life. They married on May 13, 1948 in Betty's childhood home. Over their 72 years of marriage, Bob and Betty raised their greatest earthly joys - six daughters.

While Betty stayed at home to take care of their girls, Bob worked as an auto mechanic for many years. But his true professional calling came later in life when he began preaching in South Eastern New Mexico and later in Dalhart and Channing, Texas. Bob loved nothing more than to declare God's love to others through his preaching and his actions. Despite retiring twice from preaching, he continued to find opportunities in his 80s and 90s to share and teach the Gospel with others.

Bob will be greatly missed by his five living daughters and three son-in-laws: Olga McAlister of Amarillo, TX; Debbie and David Smith of Amarillo, TX; Becky McAlister of Haslet, TX; Beth and Michael Spencer of Artesia, NM; and Amy and Michael Grantham of Wolfforth, TX. His legacy of love, laughter, and a deep faith in Christ will be treasured by his 13 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.

John 3:16 - " For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. "
