Obituary

Beloved Brother, Navy Veteran, and Friend

Bobby Franklin Hotchkiss, born April 6, 1962, in Amarillo, Texas at the old Air Force base, passed away peacefully at Thomas E. Creek Veterans Hospital in Amarillo on October 25, 2025, at the age of 62 after a long battle with chronic kidney failure.

Bobby was a proud graduate of Tascosa High School, where he was a member of the NJROTC and made lifelong friends, and where he laid the foundation for a life marked by service, quiet strength, and steadfast determination.

After high school, Bobby answered the call to serve his country, dedicating six years of honorable service as a member of the United States Navy Medical Corps. His commitment and compassion left a lasting impact on those he served alongside. Following his military retirement, Bobby returned home and found camaraderie and pride working as kitchen support staff at Red Lobster, where he was a valued and reliable team member.

Bobby was a man of introspection and intellect. He found solace in the pages of a good book and joy in exploring the world of computer games. He cherished his solitude, yet those who knew him best understood the depth of his heart and the strength of his character. Bobby was quiet and studious, often lost in thought or immersed in a new story, but his presence was always felt and appreciated.

He is preceded in death by his beloved mother, Mary Faye Board, whose memory he held dear. Bobby is survived by his six brothers and sisters: Kenny Hotchkiss (Debbie), Cy Hotchkiss (Tammy), John Hotchkiss, Kathryn Bartlett, Lori Hotchkiss (Juan), and Melissa Barnes (Steve), all of Amarillo, as well as numerous nieces and nephews, many other family members and friends, all of whom admired his resilience and gentle spirit.

Bobby was a fighter—strong-willed and courageous, never shying away from the challenges life presented. He will be remembered for his unwavering spirit, his love of learning, and the quiet strength that defined his days. Bobby will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who have had the privilege of knowing him.

The family would like to thank the doctors, nurses, therapists and staff at Thomas E. Creek VA Medical Center, DaVita Amarillo Dialysis and Enhabit Home Health for the care and compassion they showed Bobby and his family.
