Charles Douglas Smith, 54, of Amarillo, Texas, passed away on Thursday, January 9, 2025. Born on April 16, 1970, in Sparta, Tennessee, Charles was the beloved son of James Douglas and Carolyn Ann (Overton) Smith.
Charles grew up in Perryton, Texas, where he attended Perryton High School. He was a talented and creative individual who found joy in designing and building die-cast replicas and scale models. His love for engineering electronics and his passion for science fiction and strategic games reflected his innovative and curious spirit.
Known for his fierce loyalty and unwavering dedication to his loved ones, Charles was a protector and source of strength for his family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Rufus and Lily Smith, and Arlie and Maudie Marie Overton.
Charles is lovingly remembered by his children, Ashley Grant, Taija Young, and Jade Smith; his siblings, Lisa Abed, Kristi Darden and husband Danny, Britni Lowe, and Justin Smith; his niece, Samantha Williams; six additional nieces and nephews; and nine cherished grandchildren.
Charles's legacy of creativity, intellect, and devotion to his family will live on in the hearts of those who knew him.
