Obituary

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Danny Gore, who left us on May 28, 2026. Born on November 23, 1960, in Kenansville, North Carolina, Danny was a kind-hearted spirit who brightened the lives of everyone he met. He spent his childhood bouncing between North Carolina and Oregon before settling down in Amarillo in 2025.

Danny dedicated much of his life to working as a housekeeper, always going above and beyond with his good-natured personality. He was known for his love of fishing and his passion for working on bicycles and trucks. Those who knew him will fondly remember him for his larger-than-life presence and his quirky nicknames, including "Earl the Squirrel," "Chunky Monkey," and "the Pit"—a playful nod to his impressive appetite.

Danny was the kind of guy you could count on for a laugh or a helping hand. His loving and caring nature made him a cherished friend, brother, and son. He brought joy to family gatherings and community events, leaving a lasting impression on everyone around him.

Danny is survived by his 4 sisters, Janet Leigh Jones and husband Ricky B. of North Carlina, Barbara Ann Gore Pratcher and husband Jimmie of Amarillo, Alice Mae Tankersley of Hollis, OK and Betty Ann Barker and husband Robert of Chattanooga, TN; several half siblings in North Carolina as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins left to cherish his memory.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Earl Gore and Betty Strickland and brother-in-law, Jimmy Tankersley.
