Darla Jean Cheek, lovingly known to her friends and family as Dolly and Hollywood, passed away on August 19, 2025, in Amarillo, Texas, at the age of 72.
Bigger than life itself, Darla was the life of every party and a shining presence wherever she went. She was a diva in all the best ways — never seen without her lashes and lipstick, always dressed to perfection, and always ready to dance. Her love for makeup, fashion, and fun wasn't just style, it was who she was: bold, radiant, and unforgettable.
Dolly was a free spirit, a true rebel, and a soldier at heart — brave, fearless, and unapologetically herself. But behind her glamorous presence was the sweetest heart, full of love, kindness, and wisdom. She had a gift for words, a way of lifting others up, and a spirit that lit up every room she walked into.
She now goes home to receive her wings, joining her beloved parents, Mavis Gene Cheek and Dwight Cheek.
Darla's legacy lives on through her husband, best friend, and partner in crime, Michael Talley, and through her children: Terrah Jamandron, Mikah Cheek, and Franklin B. Talley. She also lives on through her grandchildren and great-grandchildren: Jasmine Sananikone, Katelinh Vu, Malea Vu, Daisy Ellis, and Chaz Hardin; and her great-grandchildren, Kaomi Norman, Nova Mason, and Hayes Ellis.
Her heart always belonged to Hawaii, a place she loved deeply. In honor of that love, Darla will be laid to rest there, surrounded by the beauty and spirit of the islands.
Her family and friends will forever remember her not just as Darla, but as Dolly and Hollywood — the star of every stage, the heartbeat of every gathering, and the soul of joy and love in their lives.
Her sparkle, strength, and spirit will never be forgotten.
