Dean passed away on December 7, 2024. Celebration of Life Services will be at 3:00 p.m. Thursday, December 19, 2024 at the Texas Panhandle War Memorial Center.
Dean was born on August 15, 1946 in Wichita, KS to Francis and Esther (Rogers) Baxter. He was raised in Hugoton, KS, where he attended school before enlisting in the National Guard. While in bootcamp in 1965, Dean met the love of his life, Cathey Paysinger. They were married on November 13, 1966 in Buffalo, OK. Dean worked as a salesman most of his life, first selling cars and later at Best Buy, where he was employed for over 15 years. In his free time, he enjoyed riding motorcycles, and was a member of the Tri-State Spyder Riders. He loved electronics, building computers, and enjoyed coaching sports when his daughters were growing up. Most of all, he loved his family and cherished time with them. Dean was excited to have attended his grandson Jared's wedding in Austin, celebrate his 58th wedding anniversary with Cathey and spend Thanksgiving with family, all in the month of November.
Dean is survived by his wife, Cathey Baxter of Amarillo; 3 daughters, Lisa Frye and husband Danny of Amarillo, Shawna Aragon of Amarillo and Rhonda Valdez of Lubbock; sister, Jeanne Packard of Wichita, KS; brother, Keith Baxter; 7 grandchildren, Braden Frye and wife Kyla, Keegan Frye, Jared Aragon and wife Aspen, Christian Valdez, Sarah Valdez, Asher Valdez and Naomi Valdez as well as 2 great grandchildren, Talon Dean Frye and Brighton Frye.
