Diana Susan (Kiser) Balzer, of Amarillo, Texas, joined her Lord and Savior on April 15 th ,
2026.
Diana, or "Sis" as family called her, was born to Robert and Alda (Kring) Kiser in
Leesburg, Va October 5, 1951. Diana, "Sue", graduated from Fairfax High School, Va in
1970. She worked in Washington D.C. before joining the United States Air Force in
1974. While in the Air Force she married and started a family, relocated to Texas, then
eventually to the Oklahoma Panhandle. While raising her two daughters, she earned
her Associates Degree in nursing from Seward County Community College in Liberal,
Ks. She officially became a Registered Nurse in 1989, beginning a decades long career
caring for others. While in Liberal, she took her first position as a Director of Nursing at
the Good Samaritan Facility. Diana and her daughters moved to Amarillo, Tx in 1993
where she continued to work as a strong advocate for the elderly. Until her retirement in
2015, she worked in executive nursing positions such as Director of Nursing for Long
Term Care Facilities, Chief Nursing Officer for an LTAC hospital, and Administrator/
Director of Clinical Services for a Home Health Agency. Diana was known for excellence
in her facilities, compassionate care for the elderly, and was well respected in her
profession. She also mentored and taught future caregivers and nurses, education of
those in her field was another passion for her.
In her personal life, she was an expert at caring for others. She was known for her
baking skills as she made the best birthday cakes, wedding cakes, chocolates, and
candies. She was a second mom to many of her daughters' friends and they knew she
always had the best snacks, and her home-cooked meals were full of love. Diana was
also a reliable friend to many, whether it was helping pull off a prank, or being a
shoulder to cry on. She made it her goal to never miss any event is her daughters' lives,
they always came first. She continued this legacy of support for the light of her later
years, her granddaughter, who thought of her as her best friend. They spent hours
reading together. No one who was in her circle of friends and family was ever left
feeling unloved.
She was a member of First Baptist Church, Amarillo. She was preceded in death by her
parents. Diana is survived by her daughters from her former marriage, Keli Balzer
Franks (Kody) of Amarillo, Erin Balzer McHenry (Josh) of Yukon, OK., Brothers James
Kiser (Susan) of Harrisonburg, VA., David Kiser (Debbie) of Raliegh, NC., and Matthew
Kiser (Peggy) of Dumfries, VA., granddaughter Mabel Franks, and grandson Jake
McHenry, her nieces and nephews, and friends.
Private services for family will be held at a later date.
Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.
