Don was born on June 29, 1943 in Brownfield, Texas to Ervin and Opal Mason. After completing his education, he enlisted in the United States Army, where he proudly served in Vietnam. Upon leaving the Army, he worked as a rough neck until he was disabled in an accident. He was known to be very stubborn and have a unique sense of humor. He will be missed greatly by all who knew him, especially his dog, George.

Don is survived by his daughter, Jennifer Sabbe and spouse Heath; son, Drew Mason and wife Rebecca; 2 sisters, Carolyn Sells and Rita Harris; 3 brothers, Kenneth, Dwain and Jackie Mason and 5 grandchildren, Tyler Wormsbaker, Tallon Sabbe, Brock Sabbe, Ainsley Mason and Blake Mason.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ervin and Opal Mason; brother, Geril Mason; 3 sisters, Rebecca Bradley, Marie Sells and Kathy Hatcher and his wife, Patsy Mason.
