With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Elizabeth "Janie" Schale, who left us on September 14, 2025. Born on July 19, 1945, in Muskogee, Oklahoma, Elizabeth, lovingly known as Janie, moved to Amarillo as a child and made it her lifelong home.
She is the beloved wife of Al Schale and a true caregiver at heart. For many years, Janie worked as a nurse's aide at St. Anthony's Hospital, where her compassion and kindness left a mark on everyone she met. Beyond her professional life, she was an incredible crafter and painter, always finding joy in expressing her creativity.
Family meant everything to Janie. She cherished every moment spent traveling with loved ones, creating unforgettable memories together. She took her role as a mother seriously and embraced it wholeheartedly, making her home a place filled with warmth and love. As a "Granny," she was a beacon of affection not only to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren but also to many who needed that grandmotherly touch in their lives.
Janie's loving spirit and caring nature touched everyone around her, and she will be missed more than words can express.
