In Loving Memory of Elmar Faulk Nicely

September 16, 1966 – October 25, 2026

Elmar Faulk Nicely, lovingly known to his family and friends as Elmo, passed away on Sunday, October 25, 2026, in Amarillo, Texas, at the age of 60. He was born on September 16, 1966, in Fulda, Hessen, Germany.

Elmo was a man with a big heart, a strong will, and a sense of humor that could brighten even the darkest days. He was funny, stubborn, hardworking, and fiercely protective of the people he loved. Beneath his tough exterior was a caring and compassionate man who would do anything to help someone in need. Elmo’s journey through life wasn’t always an easy one, and like anyone, he faced his share of struggles and challenges. But rather than allowing his past to define him, he chose to grow from it, turning life’s hardest lessons into opportunities to spread kindness, offer guidance, and make a difference in the lives of others. He understood that everyone has a story, and he never hesitated to lend a helping hand, share a laugh, offer advice, or be a shoulder to cry on. His past helped shape the man he became, and his later years were a testament to the good that can come from growth, perseverance, and a heart willing to give to others. His stubbornness was matched only by his determination, loyalty, and the love he carried for his family and friends.

Elmo had many passions throughout his life, but nothing brought him greater joy than spending time with his family. Above all, he shared a love with his wife, Teresa, that was nothing short of a fairytale. Their love was the kind people dream of finding, a beautiful bond built on laughter, devotion, friendship, and standing by one another through life’s greatest joys and hardest challenges. Together, they shared a love story that will never truly end, because a love like theirs doesn’t fade with goodbye. It lives on in every cherished memory and every moment they shared.

Elmo also loved cooking, working on cars alongside his grandson, and cheering on his grandchildren from the sidelines as they played sports. He enjoyed riding and working on motorcycles, tattooing, and expressing himself through art. Whether he was creating something with his hands, sharing his talents, or spending time with those he loved, Elmo put his heart into everything he did.

Never one to stop learning or chasing his dreams, Elmo was attending Amarillo College to pursue his passion for art and had recently been accepted into Texas Tech University. His dedication to continuing his education was a testament to his determination and belief that it is never too late to follow your dreams. Although his journey was cut short, his ambition, creativity, and perseverance will continue to inspire those who knew him.

Elmo is survived by his loving wife, Teresa Lynne Nicely; his sons, Cody Nicely, Justin Perry, and Stephen Allhiser; his daughter, Kristen Ballard-Lavoie, and her spouse, Bree Ballard-Lavoie; his grandchildren, Stephen Allhiser Jr. and Lillieanne Shelley; and his daughter-in-law, Dusty Stroud.

He is also survived by his mother, Debra Nicely; his brothers, Robert Nicely and his spouse, Teresa Thurman, and Brandon Nicely and his spouse, Courtney Nicely; his aunt, Mary Peters; his cousin, Lisa Ferguson; Candy Nicely; and many other cherished family members and close friends.

Elmo was preceded in death by his father, Hershal Nicely; his grandmother, Mary Nicely; his sister, Taysha Nicely; and his nephew, Dakota Nicely.

Elmo will be remembered for the laughter he brought, the wisdom he shared, the helping hand he never hesitated to extend, and the unconditional love he had for his family. He leaves behind a lifetime of memories, lessons, and love that will never be forgotten. Though his family must now navigate a world without him, the impact he made on their lives will remain forever.

His journey may have ended, but the love he gave, the laughter he shared, and the dreams he pursued will live on in the hearts of those who loved him.

And in the words of the great Elmar himself, “Do you want a cookie?”
