On September 10, 2026, our family said goodbye to Felis Fuentes, who passed away in Amarillo, Texas, at the age of 87.

Felis was born in Pearsall, Texas, to Jesus Fuentes and Marcelina Gonzalez Fuentes. He spent his working life as a farmer. For many years, his days were spent working the land and driving tractors. It was the life he knew.

Felis was a private man who generally kept to himself, but once you got him talking, he could carry on a conversation for quite a while. He enjoyed visits from his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Those times together gave his family an opportunity to sit, visit, and make memories with him.

As a Texas native and Fuentes man, he was a proud Dallas Cowboys fan and spread that to his kids and grandkids. One of the things his family will always remember about him is how much he enjoyed watching his Cowboys and his westerns, especially John Wayne movies.

Felis was one of 11 children born to Jesus and Marcelina Fuentes. He was preceded in death by his brothers Jesus Fuentes and Joe Fuentes, and his sisters Paula Galvan and Maria Valencia. He is survived by his brother Paul Fuentes, his brother Pete Fuentes, and his sisters Rafela Fuentes, Lucia Hartaman, and Nila Fuentes.

Felis wasn't just a lone man, he was a brother, father, uncle, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He leaves behind his children, Eloy Fuentes, Jerry Fuentes, Rueben Fuentes, Patricia Olesky, and Felix Fuentes, along with numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his son, Alex Fuentes, in 2025.

Every family has its own memories, stories, and moments, and Felis will remain a part of ours. Some will remember him as Dad, some as Grandpa, and some as Great-Grandpa. Each relationship was different, but each one is part of the story he leaves behind.

We will miss Felis, but we are grateful for the life he lived and the memories we have of him. We are thankful for the time we had together, for the visits and conversations, and for the moments we will carry with us.

Although saying goodbye is hard, we look forward to the day when we will see him again.
