Gary Eugene Estes, 71, of Amarillo, Texas, passed away on August 25, 2025. Born in Inglewood, California, on June 17, 1954, to Viola and Virgil Estes, Gary's life was marked by a vibrant spirit, and love for family.
Gary lived in various places including Anaheim and Palm Springs before moving to Amarillo in 1971. He attended Caprock High School and served honorably in the Army from 1972 to 1975 as a medic. His work in construction, painting, and remodeling reflected his dedication to creating and transforming spaces, always with a desire to make the world brighter.
He was married three times to Dolly, Debbie, and Mindy, and was a proud father to four children: Shawn, Christy, Ryan, and Kati. Although mysterious to most, Gary's greatest joy was his family. He was known for his mischievous nature, living life to the fullest. Gary enjoyed motorcycles and later in life spent time with his beloved dogs, especially his best friend Sammy.
Gary's most profound moment came when he decided to follow Jesus. His passion for his faith led him to share the message of Jesus, touching many lives along the way.
He was preceded in death by his parents Virgil and Viola, and his brother, Mike Estes.
He is survived by his wife, Malinda Estes; his children: Shawn Estes, Christy Lombardi, Ryan Estes, Kati Estes and their families, His 4 Grandchildren: Van and Jack Estes and Bryce and Brett Lombardi, his siblings: Donna Barney, Lee Estes, Connie Hawn, Marilyn Halsey and their families.
Gary's legacy is one of love, faith, and joy. He will be dearly missed but eternally remembered.
