It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Genoveva Castillo, who departed this life on June 29, 2025, just one day shy of her 71st birthday. Born on June 30, 1954, Genoveva is preceded in death by her beloved parents, Pete and Genoveva Garcia, and her siblings, Matilda and Jose Garcia, as well as her cherished grandchildren, Elijah Rodriguez and Christopher Overton.
Genoveva is survived by her devoted daughter, Stefanie Rodriguez, and her husband, Tony Willis. She is also survived by her sons, Adrain Rodriguez and his wife, Liz, and Eugene Rodriguez. Genoveva leaves behind her loving sisters, Delia Rubio and her husband, Emilio, and Amelia Garcia, along with her brothers, Jesus Garcia and his wife, Sheryl, George Garcia and his wife, Chrisanta, and Peter Garcia. She was a treasured grandmother to thirteen grandchildren and a doting great-grandmother to twelve great-grandchildren. Additionally, she is survived by her lifelong friend, Josie Flores.
A graduate of Plainview High School and later attended Wayland College, Genoveva was known for her passion for music, shopping, and home decorating. Her love for her family, friends, and cooking was evident in the many recipes she joyfully shared. Genoveva dedicated a significant portion of her life to caring for children at day and night daycare, which brought her immense joy. A passionate fan of the Dallas Cowboys, she brought energy and enthusiasm to every aspect of her life.
A funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 Wednesday, July 2nd 2025 at Shafer Mortuary Services Funeral Home 1502 S. Cleveland, where we will celebrate Genoveva's remarkable life and the profound impact, she had on those around her.
Genoveva Castillo will be remembered for her warmth, kindness, and the love she freely gave. She leaves a legacy that will forever resonate in the hearts of her family and friends.
