Glee Juanita Ryan, 92, of Amarillo passed away on July 5, 2024. The family will hold private inurnment services at a later date.
Glee was born on February 26, 1932 in Wright County, Iowa to James and Erma Babcock. She was raised in Dows, Iowa, where she graduated from high school in 1949. She attended Iowa Central Community College in Eagle Grove, Iowa, receiving her Associate's Degree in Business. She worked for the Army at Fort Ord Base in California, later transferring to the Navy, working as a paralegal for the naval station at Pearl Harbor. There, she received the highest civilian commendation from the admiral of the Navy, retiring at the age of 62 in 1994. Glee was independent, loved to travel and was an avid reader.
She is survived by 4 daughters, Valinda Voigt and husband Merle of Amarillo, Diana Miesse of Puyallup, WA, Ryan Kirst of Montgomery, TX, Cathryn Layson of Avondale, AZ; 2 sons, Walter "Buzz" Ryan and wife Denise of Boone, Iowa and Rickie Ryan of Boone, Iowa; sister, Ruthie Collier and husband, Donald of Highlands Ranch, CO; 11 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.
Glee was preceded in death by her parents; 2 sisters, Wanda Loux and Dorothy Roll; brother, Keith Babcock; son, Daryle Dean Ryan and grandson, Scott Joseph Miesse.
