Obituary

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Gunnar Grove, Jr., who left us too soon at the age of 53. Born on February 20, 1972, in Hawthorne, NV, Gunnar lived a wonderfully unique life that touched everyone around him.

Gunnar was a true culinary artist, working his way up from line cook to chef in several restaurants in the Woodbridge, VA area. His passion for cooking was matched only by his fondness for fishing, reading, and playing video games. As a child, one could often find him skating around the neighborhood or buried in a good book. He had a knack for math that amazed everyone, all without breaking a sweat.

Known for his kindness and humor, Gunnar was the type of person who would drop everything to help a friend—or even a stranger—in need. He lived life on his own terms, marching to the beat of his own drum, and prided himself on being one of a kind. A laid-back soul, Gunnar preferred being a passenger rather than behind the wheel, much to the delight of those who got to drive him around.

He is survived by his parents, Gunnar Sr. and Cle Grove; 2 daughters, Molly Grove Campbell and husband John and Madyson "Maddie" Grove; son, Gunnar Grove, III and wife Kimmi; 2 sisters, Gabrielle Grove and LaShawna Southern and brother, Joe Grove.

He was preceded in death by grandparents, Mary and James Grove and uncles, Richard and Larry Grove.
