Hortencia Alvarado Salas, 84, of Amarillo, Texas passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on October 4, 2025. She was born on July 17, 1941 in Menard, Texas to Domingo Alvarado and Henrietta Perez Alvarado.

Hortencia married Joe Salas on August 27, 1960 and they shared 65 years of marriage. She lived and resided in Amarillo for 45 years. Hortencia started her contract in 1975 in Friona, Texas and moved to Amarillo in the spring of 1980 where she continued working with The Amarillo Independent School District and spent 25 plus years as a Paraprofessional in education. She loved her family dearly and will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

Hortencia was preceded in death by her parents and a son, Terry Edward Salas.

Hortencia is survived by Joe Salas, Sandra Salas, Ben and Renae Anderson, Noah Anderson, Naudia and Roy Serrano, Terry Salas, Melvin and Mariella Ramon, Andrew and Shannel Linton, Jaden Barnum, Jacie-Jo Ramon, Derrik and Shaelene Horn, Tesslynn Horn and Damon Horn, Wesley and Adaly Ramon, Kelton and Melissa Ramon, Jeremiah and Angela Salas, Jebediah Salas and Jeziah Salas.
