James Aubrey
Fewell
Feb 12, 1951 — Oct 6, 2026
Amarillo,TX
In Loving Remembrance
James Aubrey Fewell Jr., affectionately known as “Jimmy,” passed away on October 6, 2026, in Amarillo, Texas, at the age of 75. He was born on February 12, 1951, in Lubbock, Texas, to James Aubrey Fewell and Fannie Adele Thomason.
Jimmy graduated from Lubbock Coronado High School in 1969 and spent some years attending Texas Tech University. He had a lifelong appreciation for cars, especially Corvettes, and enjoyed motorcycles, football, and the excitement of following his favorite team, the New England Patriots. He also held a special place in his heart for the mountains of New Mexico. He loved the beauty and peacefulness of the mountains and often dreamed of one day retiring there.
One of Jimmy’s greatest joys was watching his granddaughters grow up. He cherished the opportunity to watch them play basketball and took great pride in seeing them grow into the young women they are today. Those moments became some of the memories his family will hold closest to their hearts.
Jimmy was preceded in death by his parents, James Aubrey Fewell and Fannie Adele Thomason; his brother, Donald Reagan; and his nephew, Joshua Brandon Phillips.
He leaves behind his sister, Kimberly D’Ann Phillips, and her daughter, Heather Michelle Muallem; his brother, Timothy Lane Fewell, and wife, Gayla, and their children, Derek Shane Fewell and Riley Garrett Fewell; as well as seven great-nieces and great-nephews.
Jimmy is also survived by his daughter, Jami Karissa Love, and her husband, James Love, and their daughters, Carissa Morgan Love and Natalie Kaye Love; and his great-granddaughter, Embrie Skye Nieto.
Among the many stories his family will remember, one perfectly captures Jimmy’s unique sense of humor. On one occasion, he dropped his glass eye underneath the table and casually asked one of his great-nieces to pick it up for him—leaving her understandably "traumatized" by the experience. It was the kind of unforgettable moment that only Jimmy could create, and one his family can now look back on with a smile and a laugh.
Jimmy also had a special love for his dog, Dixie. Their story, like so many parts of Jimmy’s life, is one his family will remember with both affection and a smile.
Jimmy will be remembered not only for the things he enjoyed, but for the personality that made him unmistakably himself. He was a one-of-a-kind character whose quick wit, sense of humor, and perfectly timed smart-aleck comments could bring a smile to just about anyone’s face. He had a way of making people laugh, often when they least expected it, and never afraid to deliver a good comeback. He leaves behind countless funny stories and joyful memories that his family will continue to share for years to come and memories that will continue to bring smiles to the faces of those who knew and loved him.
Though he will be deeply missed, Jimmy’s family can take comfort in knowing that his humor, his stories, and the memories he created with them will never truly leave. He will continue to live on in every shared laugh, every favorite story, every football game, and every memory that begins with, “Remember when Jimmy…”
His last wish in life was to get to actually see his great granddaughter Embrie and now he will be able to. He was truly one of a kind, and there will never be another quite like him.
