James D. Papa, 53, of Amarillo passed away on February 11, 2025. Celebration of Life Services will be at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, February 13, 2025 at New Life Church.
James was born on June 7, 1971 in Borger to Raymond and Ronetta Papa. He was raised throughout the Panhandle, settling in Amarillo when he was 21. Here, James worked in remodeling, before his employment as a car salesman at Plains Chevrolet, where he worked for many years. He enjoyed coaching his son's Kids Inc baseball team and spending time with his family. In his free-time, he loved singing Karaoke at Cattleman's bar and playing pool, playing on BCA as well as many city leagues. He was an avid Carolina Panthers and an OU fan. Above all, he loved his family, and cherished being "Grandpa No-legs and Rob Zombie to his grandkids.
He is survived by 2 daughters, Lindsey Papa and Lauren Mansel and fiancé, Zachary of Amarillo; 4 sons, Michael Papa of Amarillo, Tyler Papa of Dallas, Zachary Papa and wife Erica of Amarillo and Christopher Papa of Amarillo; 3 brothers, Robert Papa of Clarendon, Tommy Papa and wife Karen of Leander, TX and Kenny Holt and wife Christy of Panhandle; companion, Jackie Bryant of Amarillo; grandchildren, Levi Arend, Elijah Tobar, Levi Ybarra and Aubrey Mansel as well as many nieces and nephews left to cherish his memory.
James was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Ricky Howt.
