Obituary

Janet Pancake, 73, passed away peacefully after a brief illness. Born in Amarillo to R.T. and Routh Thomas, Janet was a proud graduate of Palo Duro High School, Class of 1971. After her graduation, she took her talents to Dallas, where she dedicated many years to working at Electronic Data Systems (EDS).

Though she enjoyed her time in the big city, her heart always belonged to Amarillo. She returned to her roots and spent her later years making a difference at Jan Werner Adult Daycare until her well-earned retirement. Janet was a woman of many passions—her love for sewing and quilting was matched only by her deep affection for her family. There was nothing that brought her more joy than spending time with her loved ones.

She is survived by her son, Larry Pancake of Amarillo; 2 sisters, Maxine Spiker of Amarillo and Karen Smitherman and husband Bowmer of Lubbock; grandchildren, Caitlyn Curtain and husband Dan of Elida, NM and Shyanne Pancake and spouse Hadley of South Aurora, CO and great grandchildren, Kelly Rose and Wyatt Hayes.

Janet was preceded in death by her parents, R.T. and Routh Thomas and siblings, Donald Thomas, Mildred Thomas, Routh "Tiny" Jordan, Howard Thomas and Leroy Thomas.
