Obituary

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, Janie Vallejo, on December 11, 2025, at the age of 75. Janie was born on December 22, 1949, in Casa Grande, Arizona.

Janie married Antonio Vallejo on August 4, 1968, in Alabama. The couple made their home in Hereford, Texas, where they built a life together and established Vallejo & Sons Trucking. Janie managed the business affairs while also maintaining a distinguished career in education. She served for many years as a teacher with Hereford Independent School District and the Texas Migrant Council. Teaching was her true vocation, and she devoted her life to the service of children and families.

Janie was known for her strong work ethic, generosity, and deep devotion to her family. She enjoyed bingo, shopping at garage sales and thrift stores, and was known for her determination in finding the best bargains. She took pride in her appearance and always ensured her hair, nails, and attire were impeccably maintained. She had a fondness for jewelry and collectible tumblers and rarely left a store without adding one to her collection.

She enjoyed Coca-Cola, sweet tea—the sweeter, the better—and frequent visits to Starbucks. A devoted Dallas Cowboys fan, she supported her team faithfully, win or lose. Janie had a lifelong love of Tejano music and was a great dancer. She especially cherished family gatherings and found great joy in cooking for her loved ones. She was known for her kindness and willingness to help others, often placing the needs of others before her own.

Janie greatly enjoyed traveling and treasured the time spent attending her granddaughter Kingsley's softball tournaments. Janie never missed a game. Traveling to see her play brought her so much joy. Janie, a familiar voice in the stands and a beloved presence on every field she entered. The softball community knew and loved her especially for her outspoken personality. She also held a special place in her heart for her beloved dog, Tin Tin.

Janie will be remembered for her unwavering dedication to her family, her compassion for others, and her lifelong commitment to education. Her memory will be cherished by all who knew and loved her.

Janie is survived by her daughters, Tanya Marrufo and her husband, Gabriel, and Yvette Garza and her husband, Orlando.
