Obituary

Jason Paul Haschke, 39, of Amarillo, passed away on August 30, 2025, surrounded by the love
of his family.
He was born on March 2, 1986, in Amarillo, Texas, to Eugene and Mary Beth Haschke. Jason
graduated from Caprock High School in 2004 and went on to earn a Bachelor's degree in
Culinary Arts from Johnson & Wales University in Denver, Colorado.
Jason's life was defined by his passion and his heart. He found his calling in the kitchen where
his creativity came alive. Cooking wasn't just a career for him—it was his art, his way of
showing love. As Executive Chef at the Bishop DeFalco Retreat Center, Jason poured his skill
and joy for food into every meal, nourishing not only the body but also the spirit of all who
gathered there. Friends and family knew that if Jason was cooking, you'd not only eat well,
you'd feel cared for and loved. Every dish told a story; every shared meal created a memory.
As proud as he was of his work, Jason's greatest pride and joy were his three daughters. They
were his everything—his reason, his light, his favorite audience. He was happiest when he was
with them, whether he was making them laugh with his quick wit, teaching them to cook, or
enjoying life's simple joys together. They loved cheering at baseball games—whether watching
the Texas Rangers or their hometown Sod Poodles—and exploring the beauty of Palo Duro
Canyon on family hikes. Jason poured all of himself into being their dad, and his love for them
will always remain the truest part of his legacy.
Jason also had a gift for bringing people together. He and his wife loved hosting their annual
Oktoberfest, a celebration filled with food, fun, music, and laughter. Over the years they opened
their home for other gatherings too, including festive Mardi Gras parties, each event full of joy,
community, and Jason's signature hospitality. What started as simple get-togethers grew into
beloved traditions that reflected Jason's joy for life, his love of heritage, and his knack for
creating connection. Those memories will live on in the hearts of everyone who filled their home
and backyard with cheer year after year.
Jason will be remembered as a man who lived with warmth, generosity, and passion. He made
people feel at home, whether at his table or in his company. His absence leaves an ache, but his
spirit continues to live on—in the daughters he adored, in the recipes and traditions he passed
down, and in the countless lives he touched along the way.
He is preceded in death by his grandparents Lavern Wilhelm, Pauline Haschke, and Leander
Haschke and uncles Stephen Wilhelm and Robert Wilhelm and aunt JoAnn Haschke.
Jason is survived by his three beloved daughters, Hannah, Abigail, and Elsie Haschke, and their
mother, Courtney Haschke; his parents, Mary Beth and Eugene Haschke; his sister, Jessica
Kohler, and her husband, Bobby; his brother, Albert Haschke; his niece, Hanna Kohler, and
nephew, Levi Kohler. He is also survived by his grandmother, Veronica Wilhelm, along with a
