It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Jeffrey Leroy Benge, age 69, who departed this life on July 17, 2026, in Amarillo, Texas. Born on December 5, 1956, in Tucumcari, New Mexico, Jeffrey was the beloved son of Leroy and Barbara Benge, who preceded him in death. He is also survived by his cherished daughters, Kourtney Ortiz and her spouse Jose, and Keeley Benge and her spouse Lanny Shrubs; sister, Virginia Scuddy, and brother, Mitch Benge; Jeffrey leaves behind a legacy of love and joy, remembered fondly by his five grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Jeffrey spent his formative years in Tisamingo, Oklahoma where he developed a passion for life that would follow him throughout his career and personal pursuits. He was married to Redawna for nineteen years and built a successful career as a boilermaker, contributing to the construction of refineries for Valero and nuclear power plants across the United States.

In his leisure time, Jeffrey enjoyed playing pool, nurturing his green thumb in the garden, and cherished moments spent outdoors. He had a particular fondness for fast cars and was known for his love of loud rock and roll music. Above all, he was a devoted believer in Christ and found immense joy in spending time with his grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held in his honor at Shafer Mortuary Funeral Home on Saturday, July 25, 2026, at 2:00 PM.

Jeffrey’s vibrant spirit and loving nature will be profoundly missed by all who knew him. May he rest in peace.
