It is with heavy hearts that we share the news of Jerome "Jay" Venable's passing on April 10, 2025. Born on October 25, 1963 in Amarillo, Texas, where he spent his life rooted in the community he loved. Known for his infectious smile and laid-back charm, he spent many years working in construction, particularly with K&D Framing, where he made a mark with his hard work and dedication.
Jay was a passionate football fan, proudly cheering for his beloved Dallas Cowboys. He found joy in the simple pleasures of life—cold beer on a hot day, rock and roll music blaring, and thoroughly enjoying a game of pool with friends. One of his favorite pastimes was diving into the world of classic John Wayne movies, and he could often be found at the dirt track, soaking up the excitement.
Jay leaves behind his loving parents, Sharon Lundegreen and Perry, along with his two daughters, McKenzie and Jasmine Venable, all of Amarillo. He is also survived by his step-sons, Treavor Baker and his wife Stormie of Happy, TX, and Dallas Baker of Amarillo, TX. He was a proud brother to four sisters, Kelle Venable, Brittany "Bee" Seay, both of Amarillo, Leatha Seay of Lufkin, and Chantel Hall of Amarillo, as well as two brothers, Chad Lundegreen and his wife Danielle, and Dee Venable and his wife Tiffany, all of Amarillo. Jay was loved by many nieces and nephews who brought him joy throughout his life. He was preceded in death by his father, Darrel Venable and his grandparents.
Rest in peace, Jay. You will always be in our hearts.
