Jo Beth was born on August 12, 1952 in Amarillo to Billy and Sally Oakley. She was raised in Amarillo, where she graduated from Tascosa High School. She later attended Amarillo College, where she received her Associate's Degree in Science. Jo Beth had a servant's heart, caring for her family and even strangers. She used her degree and skills to care for others, first through her employment at Child Protective Services and later through TPMHMR, where she was the head of the PAC team and worked in home care. She was instrumental in establishing the lunch held yearly at the Big Texan for the mentally disabled as well as the holiday Giving Tree and Toys for Tots. She worked for the TDCJ as a guard in Dalhart for a few years. Jo Beth was an example to others of generosity and selfless giving. Her family continues to benefit from her persistence in registering for their tribal benefits, one of her many selfless acts.
Her family will remember her love of the holidays and her elaborately decorated yard that even won 1st prize for best decorated yard at Halloween. Her grandchildren will always cherish memories of "hunting for treasures" with their MeMe. Jo Beth enjoyed thrift shopping with her friend Judy Burgess and gardening. Most of all, she loved her family.
She is survived by her daughter, Stefanie Dawn Fancher; son, Christopher Dylan Fancher; 2 sisters, Sally Kay Sidman and husband, Bobby and Billie Ann Gotcher and husband Wayne and 2 grandchildren, Addison Elizabeth Gambrell and Clayton Wade Gambrell and fiancé Alyssa O'Connor, all of Amarillo.
She was preceded in death by her parents; 2 brothers, Billy Roy Oakley and John Charles Oakley.
