Jody Thompson ,62, passed away on October 29,2024, in Liberal, KS. Born on March 15, 1962, in Coldwater, KS, to Melvin and Jeannie Thompson, Jody lived a life marked by a deep commitment to his community and a love for the outdoors.
Jody spent many years as a skilled plumber in Liberal, KS, where he was known for his dedication and hard work. His passion for nature was evident in his frequent camping trips at Arkalon Park, where he eventually took on the role of camp host, managing numerous campground duties with care and enthusiasm.
An avid sports fan, Jody enjoyed watching football, a pastime that brought him much joy and excitement. He was also fond of fishing and playing horseshoes, activities that allowed him to spend cherished moments with friends and family.
Jody is survived by his loving wife, Anita; daughters Jessica Johnson and husband Shad, Alicia Hammock, all from Liberal; four grandchildren, Bobbie Paris and her husband Lane, Elijah Johnson and his wife Jackie, Reanna Powell, and the late Aiden Hammock-Thompson. He also leaves behind his sister, Floydene from Tucson, AZ, and her husband Ray; brothers Eldon Thompson and his husband Ken from
Wichita, KS, and David Thompson from Coldwater, KS; an aunt, Peggy Stotler from Protection, KS; and a sister-in-law, Maggie Thompson from Liberal, KS.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Melvin and Jeannie Thompson; his brother Mitch Thompson; sister Melvina Caldwell; and his grandson, Aiden Thompson.
Jody's life will be celebrated through a ceremony later. Arrangements to follow.
