Obituary

John L Higdon, 78, beloved husband, daddy, and granddaddy passed away on December 20,2025 in Amarillo, Texas with his wife, daughter and granddaughter by his side.

John was born in Wheeler County, Texas on May 20,1947 to William Aubrey Higdon and Euphia Arlene Nunn Higdon, where he lived on a cotton farm with his parents and siblings till graduating from Kelton High School.

He moved to Amarillo where he met the love of his life, Janie , in 1972 and wed 6 weeks later.

John was an accomplished boot maker; having learned the craft by befriending all the right people. Later he would teach future boot maker's the art, therefore passing down his love, passion, and knowledge to them.

John was preceded in death by both his parents, as well as his eldest brother, William Duanne Higdon and nephew Ty Higdon. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Neva Jane "Janie" Campbell Higdon; Sister, Karen (Sanford) Jett; Brother, Kenn (Sherrie) Higdon; Daughter, Amy Lynn Higdon Brattin; Son, Benjamin Reese (Jayme) Higdon; Granddaughters, Aubrey Higdon and Riley (Max) Higdon Knavel; Grandson, Joseph Brattin; Great-Grandson, Karter John; Best friend and loyal companion, Saffire; Many nieces and nephews and lifelong friends he loved like family.

His ashes will be scattered at a private memorial at "the old home place" in Twitty, Texas at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests to take a moment to let those you love know how truly precious they are to you. Love them fiercely. Tomorrow is promised to no one, but eternity in Heaven with Christ is.
