Joshua was born on September 3, 1987 in La Jara, CO to Anthony and Christina Benavidez. He moved to Tucumcari, NM as a child, where he graduated from Tucumcari High School and was a proud Rattler. He was an all-star athlete, helping lead his football team to state champions twice. Josh enjoyed all sports, whether watching on ESPN or playing basketball and softball even after graduation. He worked as a roofer and a landscaper in Tucumcari after graduation.

In his free time, Josh enjoyed reading and cooking at home, where he and his daughter were always in the kitchen creating new recipes to share with family. He loved spending time with his friends and family as often as possible and will be missed by all who knew him.

Josh is survived by his parents, Anthony and Christina Benavidez of Clovis; daughters, Mayri Benavidez of Clovis and Hayden Arias of Clovis, NM; 2 brothers, Justin Benavidez of Tucumcari, NM and Lucas Benavidez and wife Tiffany of Roswell, NM; grandmother, Christine Benavidez of Tucumcari, NM; grandmother, Earline Sheff of Tucumcari, NM and numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and brothers from another mother.

He was preceded in death by grandfathers, Pablo Benavidez and Bill Sheff.
