It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Juan Mota, who left us far too soon on November 29, 2025, at the age of 55. Born on August 1, 1970, in Lubbock to Juan Sr. and Benita Mota, Juan moved to Amarillo as a child, where his remarkable journey truly began.
It was in Amarillo that he met the love of his life, Debbie, when he hired her to work with him. Their bond blossomed over the next 16 years, filled with laughter, adventures, and countless memories as they traveled to new places together. Juan devoted a significant part of his life to serving his community through his work with Amarillo Independent School District, where he dedicated his time and talents to driving buses, overseeing safety and training, and serving as assistant location manager with various bus companies, including Laidlaw, Durham, First Student, and Apple School Buses.
Juan had a passion for older cars and golf, spending many joyful days with his "West Texas Golf Brothers" on the course, where he created friendships that meant the world to him, especially his best friend, Jesse Saiz. His love for life, enthusiasm for adventure, and commitment to his family and friends will be sorely missed.
He is survived by his son, Jacob Mota and wife Vanessa of the Dallas area; daughters, Samantha Mota of Royce City and Jasmine and husband Jesus of Juarez, MX; his love, Debbie Williams of the home; brother, Joseph Mota of Amarillo; 4 grandchildren, Xavier, Jesus, Sebastian and Layla; niece, Kathleen Bustos Gray and husband Lenny and nephews, Alex Bustos and wife Laura and Christian Bustos.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Benita Anciso Mota in 1989; his father, Juan Antonio Mota, Sr. in 2009 and his sister, Dolores Gonzales in 2017.
