Judy A. Garcia, 56, of Hereford, Texas, passed away on Wednesday, April 29, 2026, in Amarillo, Texas. Born on October 24, 1969, in Hereford, Judy was the beloved daughter of Vincert P. and Dora E. Garcia.
A proud graduate of Hereford High School, Judy pursued her passion for education at the University of El Paso and West Texas A&M University, earning a Bachelor of General Studies in Education at West Texas A&M University. Her dedication to her community was evident through her 20-plus years of service with the Hereford Independent School District (HISD).
Judy was known for her beautiful smile and wonderful sense of humor. She found her greatest joy in spending time with her family, especially her cherished son, Robert J. Cantu. She was an avid fan of the classics; she loved watching Seven Brides for Seven Brothers and the Wizard of Oz, and she could often be found immersed in the works of Louisa May Alcott, Jane Austen, and Charlotte Bronte.
Her adventurous spirit led her to follow her favorite NFL team, the Tennessee Titans, traveling to see them play across the country in Dallas, Chicago, and Nashville. She also had a passion for cooking and trying new recipes. She had a special love for Christmas, always delighting friends and family with homemade holiday treats.
Judy is survived by her son, Robert J. Cantu of Hereford, TX; her mother, Dora E. Garcia; her sisters, Doris Garcia Ruiz of Plainview, Texas and Cynthia Garcia of Amarillo, Texas and her brother, Vincent Garcia, Jr. of Chicago, Illinois.
She was preceded in death by her father, Vincent P. Garcia.
