Julia Mary Fields, a beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully on September 5, 2025. She was born on January 14, 1944, in Puerto De Luna, NM, to Valentine and Lydia Silva. Julia later moved to California, where she dedicated many years to her work as a Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN), caring for others with her warm heart and gentle spirit.
Julia was a true family woman, raising her children—Rita O'Dell, David Harley, and Diesta Krahn—with love and devotion. As a proud grandmother and even prouder great-grandmother, she created countless cherished memories with her family. Anyone who knew her would attest to her vibrant personality and her ability to bring joy to those around her.
An antiques enthusiast, Julia could spend hours treasure hunting, and good luck trying to get her out of a shop before she was ready. She turned her passion into a little side hustle, selling her finds on eBay, often spotted with her computer at hand. Julia also loved the thrill of the casino and enjoyed playing slot games in her downtime.
Though we will all miss her fiercely; we take comfort in the fact that she is now at peace and free from pain. She was the ultimate "mama bear" to her family, always ready to protect and support them with her big heart.
She is survived by her children, Rita O'Dell, David Harley, Jr. and Diesta Krahn; brother, Gerald Silva; sisters, Angie Garcia and Gina Silva; grandchildren, Kirk Yates, Danielle Harley, Jewelie Harley and Christopher Krahn; 9 great grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and cousins left to cherish her memory.
Julia was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Milton Silva, David Silva, Felix Silva, Horacio Silva, Gilbert Silva and Valentine Silva, Jr. and her sisters, Patsy Silva and Alice Marhefka.
