It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved Julia Wooten, who left us on April 15, 2026, at the age of 90. Born on December 22, 1935, in Edgin, Texas, Julia was the oldest of five children born to Ray and Melba Wooten. She spent her early years in Edgin before moving to Dumas, Texas, where she graduated high school in the early 1950s.
Julia had a passion for music that came alive in her career as a dedicated music teacher, sharing her love of the accordion and piano with countless students. Her entrepreneurial spirit led her to own both a music store and a clothing store, where she not only supported her community but also touched the lives of many.
A true community member, Julia was actively involved in her church, where she taught Bible studies and ministered to those in need. She was passionate about gardening and found immense joy in playing the piano. However, what truly filled her heart was her family. Julia cherished her role as Grandma more than anything else, creating countless memories filled with laughter and love.
She is survived by her daughter, Cynthia Blake of Amarillo; 3 sisters, Joyce King of Amarillo, Carolyn Howard of Amarillo and Sandra Hough of Lake Jackson, TX; brother, Johnny Wooten and wife Anna of Cleburne, TX; 8 grandchildren and many great and great-great grandchildren left to cherish her memory.
Julia was preceded in death by her parents; son, Jimmy Henry and daughter, Sherri Henry.
