Obituary

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Julio Ribera Guerra, Jr, a beloved husband, skilled tradesman, and lifelong jokester, who left us on June 14, 2025, at the age of 74. Born on December 27, 1950, in Marble Falls, Texas, Julio's family moved to Plainview when he was just a child. There, he grew up and became known as a jack of all trades, tackling everything from mechanic work, carpentry, tile work, to remodeling – if something needed fixing, Julio was your go-to guy.

Julio had a passion for life that was contagious. He fell in love with riding his Harley Davidson in the late 1960s, and those rides brought him immense joy and a sense of freedom. He treasured the 48 years he spent with the love of his life, his wife, and often made it a point to bring laughter into their home. Known for his quick wit, Julio had a knack for making people laugh and brightening even the gloomiest of days.

Outside of work, you could find him casting a line while fishing, enjoying the great outdoors, or listening to records while playing his harmonica. Music was a big part of his life, and he embraced it wholeheartedly. He was also a life-long Dallas Cowboys fan. Above all else, his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren were his true loves.

He is survived by his wife, Julia Guerra of Amarillo; 4 daughters, Daphne Guerra of Plainview, Elena Gonzalez and husband Gilbert of Amarillo, Natalie Guerra of Amarillo and Deanna Garcia and husband Steve of Amarillo; son, Kevin Guerra and wife Karime of Amarillo; 7 siblings, Olivia Alvarado and husband Juan of Gering, NE, Joe Guerra and wife Nellie of Yuma, AZ, Santos Guerra and wife Geneva of Warr Acres, OK, Leon Guerra and wife Rebecca of Vista, CA, Teresa Guerra of Amarillo, Minerva Reynoso and husband Richard of Amarillo and Rosemary McGuinness and husband Tim of Stamford, CT; 9 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and cousins left to cherish his memory.

Julio was preceded in death by his parents, Julio Guerra Sr and Patricia Ribera Guerra.
