Obituary

Karen Sue James, 74, gained her wings as she entered heaven on Saturday, March 16, 2024. The family will hold private services at a later date.

Sue was born on April 20, 1949 in Clayton, NM to William and Nina James. She attended Plainview in Griggs, OK where she was a star basketball player and graduated high school as Valedictorian. After receiving her degree in education from Southwestern Oklahoma State University, she taught elementary school in Longdale and Guymon Oklahoma.

She was a freespirit, eventually settling in Las Vegas, where she met her soulmate, best friend and partner in crime John Ford and married in 1993. He preceded her in death in 2021.

She loved being outside, in nature, especially the mountains. She was an avid thrift shopper and had in unrivaled collection of cashmere sweaters, Cole Haan loafers and sunglasses! She loved playing basketball, ping pong and card games and if you ever played against her you know she loved to win!

Sue loved her family and consistently put their needs above her own selflessly taking care of them. She relocated to Boise City, OK to take care of her mother and eventually her brother. Those who knew her will remember her for the compassionate love she showed to others, her wicked sense of humor and pranks.

Above all, Sue loved the Lord. She touched the hearts of many with her prayers and testimony, in good times and in bad, she unwaveringly stood for truth and was a devoted servant to our Lord.

She is survived by her sister, Janice Davis of South Carolina; five nieces, one nephew and many great-nieces and nephews, Andrea Davis and husband Albert Krivopisk (Aaron and Ari) of Chicago, IL, Ashley Woodruff and husband Roger Woodruff Jr (Trinity, Rylie and Beau) of Leavenworth, KS, Amy Davis (Isabella, Kingston, Abbygale and Kayleigh) of South Carolina, Carmina Robuck and husband John Robuck (Jackson and Caitlyn) of Spring, TX, Candi James (Kaleb, Breezie and Charley) of Boise City, OK and nephew, Sterlin James of Boise City, OK.

Karen was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Bill and Gary James and her husband, John Ford.

The family asks that you consider a contribution to a ministry of your choice in Sue's honor.
