Obituary

Kay Lynn Lee

November 11, 1964 – October 28, 2026

Kay Lynn Lee, lovingly known as Kay Kay, Mimi, and simply Kay Lynn, passed away peacefully at home in Amarillo, Texas, on October 28, 2026, at the age of 61.

Born to Brenda Kay Tyler and Terry Don Tyler, Kay Lynn lived life on her own terms. A Scorpio through and through, she was a woman with a strong spirit, a fiercely loyal heart, and a personality that was impossible to forget. She often said that people either loved her or hated her, and there was no in-between. Those who knew and loved her understood that there was only one Kay Lynn, and she wouldn’t have had it any other way.

Kay dedicated 20 years of her career to the Texas Department of Criminal Justice before retiring as a Lieutenant. Throughout her life, she was known for her generosity and willingness to help anyone in need whenever she was able. Her loyalty to her family and friends ran deep, and she never hesitated to show up for the people she loved.

Kay Lynn had a love for the simple things that made life beautiful. She loved all things pink, frogs, her flowers, and spending time working in her yard. She enjoyed golfing and soaking up the sunshine whenever she could. She was happiest doing the things she loved, surrounded by the people and little things that brought her joy. Above all, Kay was a woman of faith who loved the Lord and carried that faith with her throughout her life.

Above all else, “Mimi” loved her family. Her grandchildren were her entire world, and she loved each of them with her whole heart. Some of her favorite memories were made during simple moments spent with her mother, sister, and daughter, especially gambling, traveling, and playing bingo together. It wasn’t just about the games; it was about the laughter, the company, and the memories made along the way.

Kay was never one to be anything other than herself. She had a personality that filled a room, a heart that showed up for the people she loved, and a way of making memories that will be talked about for years to come. She was unapologetically herself, and those who knew her wouldn’t have wanted her any other way.

Kay leaves behind her two children, Tyler Caywood and Kaci Seilhamer; her beloved grandchildren, Connor Seilhamer, Jacob Seilhamer, Caysen Caywood, Nolan Caywood, and Kai Seilhamer; her mother, Brenda Barringer; and her three siblings, Shari Chavez, Brad Tyler, and Chad Barringer. She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Juanita and Herbert Haley.

Kay leaves behind family and friends who will forever carry her love, her stories, her laughter, and the countless memories that made her who she was. Her absence will be deeply felt, but the impact she made on those fortunate enough to know her will never be forgotten.

In accordance with her wishes, no public service will be held. A private gathering with close family and friends will take place to celebrate her life and honor the memories she leaves behind. In lieu of flowers, please make a memorial donation to a charity or foundation of your choosing.

She was one of a kind, loved fiercely, lived boldly, and will be missed beyond words.
