Kimberly Gaye Welsh, 56, of Amarillo, Texas, passed away peacefully on December 10, 2025,
at home. She was born on July 7, 1969, in Clovis, New Mexico.
Kim was raised in New Mexico and Kansas and graduated from Tucumcari High School in 1987.
She was also an honorary member of the Centre High School Class of 1987 in Kansas, where she
completed her first three years of high school. She attended Exposito School of Hair Design in
Amarillo, Texas, where she received her cosmetology license. After working several years as a
cosmetologist, she became an American Airlines flight attendant, a role she held until September
11, 2001. She then returned home, working numerous jobs in the local community, including
Operations at Rick Husband Amarillo International Airport, AMA TechTel, Pathways
Communications, and Unbound Solar. However, her fondest and most rewarding professional
memories came from working with mentally challenged clients at the Texas State Center Group
Home.
Kim had a unique way of telling stories that always brought laughter to those around her. She
loved cooking, helping others, and animals, passions that reflected her warm and generous spirit.
However, what she enjoyed most was spending time with her friends and especially her family.
She is survived by her parents: Jim Welsh of Roswell, NM and Susan and Darrel Boulware of
Amarillo, TX. Her daughter Dakota Dickson of Irving, TX. Her siblings: Dustin Welsh of
Amarillo, TX; Mindy Welsh of Cedar Key, FL; Sheila Wood of Roswell, NM; and Perry Wood
of Palm Springs, CA; Jeff Boulware of Edgewood, NM. She was preceded in death by her
stepmother: Barbara Welsh and her grandparents: Sam and Mary Lou Welsh, Newell Edwards,
and Velma Edwards.
A private memorial service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made
