Obituary

Kristy Dawn Phillips of Amarillo, Texas, passed away on October 24, 2025 leaving behind a legacy of service, dedication, and quiet strength.

Born on December 19, 1964, to James Phillips and Bobbie Eubanks, Kristy was a proud graduate of Amarillo High School, Class of 1983. A gifted athlete, she excelled in sports and earned numerous medals during her high school years.

Following her graduation, Kristy answered the call to serve her country. She enlisted in the United States Army on November 25, 1988, and served honorably until November 24, 1992. During her time in the military, she was deployed to Germany, where she worked as an undercover drug investigator—an assignment that showcased her courage and commitment to justice.

On April 8, 1993, Kristy began what would become a distinguished career with the Potter County Sheriff's Office. Over the years, she became known as an expert in the operations of the jail and records departments, often referring to herself with a smile as "a wealth of useless knowledge." Her dedication and expertise earned her the rank of Sergeant, overseeing both the transportation and records divisions for more than 12 years.

Kristy retired from the Sheriff's Office on June 30, 2025, after more than three decades of devoted service to the citizens of Potter County.

She will be remembered not only for her service and leadership but also for her wit, integrity, and the quiet pride she took in her work and community.
