Donnie Evans, born on December 2, 1943, in Wheeler, Texas, passed away on January 27, 2026. He was a devoted son of Forace and Newasa Evans and a proud veteran who enlisted in the United States Army, serving with honor until his discharge.

Donnie married the love of his life, Nickey Robertson, in 1989, and together they built a beautiful family filled with cherished memories. He dedicated over 22 years to the City of Groom as a water supervisor as well as employment at Southwestern Public Service Electric Company, leaving a mark on all who worked alongside him.

Outside of work, Donnie had a passion for woodworking, loved camping, and treasured family gatherings. Some of his favorite memories were made with his beloved wife and kids. His warmth, humor, and kindness touched everyone he met, and he will be deeply missed.

He is survived by his wife, Nickey Evans of Groom; children, Sara Jackson and husband Chy, Elana Wortham and husband J.B. and Jeanne Miller and husband Shanon, Tony Homer and wife Jan, Brandy Dobler and husband Lee, Steven Daffern and Steve Davis; sister, Betty Aaron; nephew, Randy Aaron; 18 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren on the way and close friends, Slim Fink and wife Jylynna and Bobby Burgin.

He was preceded in death by his parents; son, B.J. Homer; brother, Dewayne Evans; nephew, Tony Aaron; brother-in-law, Billy Aaron; a grandchild and a great grandchild.
