Larry Lee Luman, a husband, father, and granddad, AKA Poppy, left us peacefully on October 14, 2025, at the age of 78. Born on September 7, 1947, in Denver, CO, to Lenny and Doris Luman, Larry had a childhood filled with adventures.
After graduating from Denver South High School in 1965, Larry went on to earn his Bachelor's Degree from the University of Denver. Shortly after college, he made his way to Texas eventually settling in Amarillo around 1978. In 1980, he married Janet Dye, creating a beautiful family together.
Larry was a true sports fan, with baseball holding a special place in his heart. Whether it was following his beloved Dodgers or coaching his sons' baseball teams, the game was more than just a sport to him; it was a way to bond and share moments with his family. He also enjoyed playing fantasy baseball with friends and family. He was very proud of his children and grandchildren. Larry loved dogs and cats and had many- They were never just pets, they were family.
Larry is survived by his wife, Janet Luman, of Amarillo, his daughter Dr. Ashley Luman Williams of Colorado Springs, CO, sons Kollin Luman of Portland, OR, and Noah Luman of Amarillo, and sister Etta Beth of Arizona. He was a proud granddad to Zachary Williams, Zeke Williams, and Kinley Luman. Kinley and her Poppy had a very special relationship. He was "Her Person." He always said Kinley was a gift from God. He also shared a special bond with Izzy, his current granddog.
He will be forever missed. No services are scheduled at this time.
