Obituary

Laura was born on April 4, 1961 in Wiesbaden, Germany to Harry Frye, Jr. and Geraldine Edwards Frye. She moved to the states as a child and she and her family eventually settled in Amarillo, where she graduated from Amarillo High School in 1979. She then attended West Texas State, receiving her BA in journalism. She worked as an editor and a journalist for the Lubbock, Stamford, Amarillo and Borger newspapers. She also taught journalism and photography at Borger High School. Later in her career, she published over 100 books under the pen name Melinda Barron. She was an cat lover and cherished her kitties. In her free time she enjoyed listening to 80's rock such as Van Halen and KISS, collecting Harley Davidson memorabilia and was a die-hard Dallas Cowboys fan. She became an avid Star Wars fan while she worked at a local movie theater when the first movies came out. Above all, she loved her family and loved spending time with her nieces and nephews.

She is survived by her 2 brothers, David Frye and wife Anne of Canyon and Daniel Frye and wife Lisa of Amarillo; 2 sisters, Cyndee Foley and Janet Sorenson, both of Amarillo; 9 nieces and nephews; 10 great nieces and nephews and her beloved 3 kitties.

She was preceded in death by her parents.
