Lavada Jean (O'Donald) Permenter, 67, of Amarillo, passed away on Friday, February 9, 2024.

Lavada was born in Canyon, Texas on June 15, 1956 to Cecil and Ruth (Keenan) O'Donald. She graduated from Canyon High School in 1975. Lavada married Jerry Permenter on October 27, 1978.
She was a devoted wife, mother and Nana. Her love for life was only exceeded by the love for her family. Lavada's grandkids were the light of her life. When her health would allow she loved to be on the Harley with Jerry. She spent 20+ years with the Amarillo Independent School District faithfully working with visually impaired and special needs students. Lavada loved those kids and her job very much. She was a special lady who lit up the life of everyone she came in contact with. Lavada was very proud of her children, grandchildren and all that called her Nana.

Lavada was preceded in death by her parents, Cecil and Vida Ruth O'Donald; three brothers, James "Bud" O'Donald, Curtis O'Donald and Daniel O'Donald and a sister, Jana McMurray.

She is survived by her handsome husband of 45 years, Jerry Doyle Permenter Jr.; her daughter, Jennifer Johnson and husband Deandre Johnson Sr.; her son, Jerry "Trey" Permenter III; three grandchildren, Deandre Johnson Jr., D'Kiera Ruth Johnson and Jayceon Micheal Johnson and a great-grandchild, Kaavion Johnson.
