It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Linda Jo-Anne Scott Stynes, who left this world on February 13, 2026. Born on March 24, 1950, in Thunder Bay, Canada, Linda was a remarkable woman whose life was a tapestry of accomplishments, adventures, and love.
From a young age, Linda was determined to explore the skies, earning her pilot's license at just 16. Her passion for learning led her to Ottawa, where she pursued a master's degree in education. During her time there, Linda's interest in politics blossomed, and she made significant contributions during her work in government. Her dedication to education then took the form of a beloved teaching career.
Linda was a spirited runner and met her husband, Pete Stynes, while hitting the pavement. The two married in 1983 in Toronto and eventually made their way to the United States, first settling in Oklahoma. However, it was the Texas Panhandle, that they truly found their home, drawn in by the warmth and charm of the people there.
Linda poured her heart into her family as a devoted wife and mother. She was always there to support her children, encouraging their dreams without pushing them. Her nurturing spirit and unwavering love left an indelible mark on everyone who was fortunate to know her.
Linda will be missed more than words can express, but her spirit will live on in the hearts of those who loved her. Fly high, Linda—your journey continues.
She is survived by her husband, Pete Stynes of Amarillo; son, Paul Stynes of Colorado Springs, CO; daughter, Brianna L'Hostis and husband Jonathan of London, England; sister, Barbara Johnson and husband Ron of Toronto, Canada; brother, John Scott and wife Joann of Thunder Bay, Canada and 3 grandchildren, Liam, Loic and Levi L'Hostus.
