It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Mack Vanzandt, who left this world on April 27, 2026, at the age of 79. Born on September 6, 1946, Mack was a man who embraced life with joy and lived it to the fullest. He was known for his big heart, infectious laughter, and a spirit that could light up any room.
Mack was preceded in death by his loving parents, Ethan and Jennie Vanzandt, and a host of siblings: Melvin, Joe Earl, Kennis, Ezell, EJ, Dorthynell, Pearline, Lovell, Fannie Mae, Linda Faye and Zella Bailey. He also mourned the loss of his daughter, Maryann Sorkowski. Mack is survived by his children, Loretta Moreland and Mack Anthony Black. as well as his dear nieces, Veta Vanzandt, Tina Archie, Tonya Cobbins, Gala White and Felicia Bailey; who brought him much joy. He is also survived by four grandchildren and will be deeply missed by his surviving siblings, Linda Lou Lewis, Larry Vanzandt, and Julius Vanzandt.
A proud graduate of Allen High School in Laneville, TX, Mack had a passion for fishing and hunting, often spending his weekends enjoying the great outdoors. Music was another love of his, particularly cowboy tunes, and you could often find him at country bars, dancing the night away in his beloved cowboy hats. He had a knack for fixing things and building projects, earning him the affectionate nickname "Green Machine" from his nieces. Mack dedicated many years of his life to All Star Roofing, a job he cherished.
