Marcus Raymond Paetzold, 47, passed away on August 6, 2024.

Marcus was born in Lubbock, Texas, on January 19, 1977. The son of Connie Slawson Paetzold and Gary Raymond Paetzold. Marcus was a little Texan through and through. He spent much of his early life travelling as part of a military family, before his family came back to Amarillo. He joined ROTC and graduated from Tascosa High School in 1997.

A licensed security specialist and former bodyguard, Marcus spent his career in the world of corporate security. One of his first jobs in the security industry was as a member of Oprah Winfrey's personal security entourage. He later worked with several local security firms, including a long stint with Amarillo Protective Services.

Marcus was an avid movie buff, gamer, and pop culture fiend. He loved collecting anything and everything pop culture-related and watching every new movie – whether it was good or not. He was also an avid reader and burned through many books each year. At home, he was a gardener and was a band member. Aside from these hobbies, Marcus loved building gadgets for his steampunk hobby, tinkering with old electronics and musical instruments, and spending time with his family and friends.

Marcus was preceded in death by his mother, Connie, and his grandparents, Betty and Raymond. He is survived by his father, Gary; his stepmother, Nancy; his sister Tamara and her husband, Tom; his daughter November; his nephew Thomas and his wife, Lauren; and his two fur babies, Oliver and Lily.

Marcus' family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Marcus' church, Miracle Covenant Church in Amarillo.
