Margaret was born on October 14, 1933 in Torquay,Devon, UK. She moved to London before settling in Texas as a young adult. Here, she worked at Fedway's as well as Piggly-Wiggly's where she met her husband, Karl Steinmetz. They were married on August 25, 1961. He preceded her in death on February 13, 2017.

Margaret worked in laundry for over 49 years, spending over 30 years as an attendant at Village Homestyle Laundry, where she worked until her retirement at the age of 78. She enjoyed reading and watching westerns in her free time, as well as cooking. Her favorite holiday was Christmas and she enjoyed decorating and cooking festive meals.

Margaret is survived by her 2 daughters, Charmaine "Charlie" Brandenburg-O'Halloran and husband Terry of Plano, TX and Holly Joan Steele and husband Thomas of Amarillo; son, Charles Brandenburg and wife Billie of Denton; 2 sisters, Barbara Hill and Olive Hill, both of Torquay, Devon, UK; 4 grandchildren, Chastity Steele, Thomas Steele, Jr., Phillip Steele and Christopher Burnham and 9 great grandchildren.
