It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Michael May, a loving husband, devoted father, Papa, and cherished friend, who left us on December 28, 2025, at the age of 76. Born in Amarillo, Texas, on October 19, 1949, to Dewey and Nola May, Michael grew up in Plainview, where he spent his childhood working at the family-run Pinkley Fruit Stand.
A proud graduate of Plainview High School in 1968, Michael went on to marry his high school sweetheart, Connie McCasland, on May 29, 1970. Their love story spanned decades, filled with laughter, adventure, and countless memories. Michael lived a life full of purpose and love. He proudly enlisted in the United States Navy in 1967, serving as a Fireman in sunny San Diego until his honorable discharge. Over the years, he wore many hats—taking on roles at Metal Industries, Gifford Hill, the 400 Gin, Abes Irrigation Six Point Gin, and eventually, Plains Dairy followed by Affiliated Foods, where he worked from 1989-1995. He truly was a jack of all trades, always ready to lend a hand or share a story.
Michael was a devoted family man, and his grandchildren and great-grandchildren were his greatest joy. He loved nothing more than being part of their lives, cheering them on at every event and celebrating their achievements. His support and enthusiasm touched all those around him. He was known for his love of fishing, often found by the water, rod in hand, soaking up the peace and quiet. His infectious smile and warm spirit will be dearly missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
He is survived by his wife, Connie May of Happy; daughters, Keylia Eblen of Wayside and Krystal Miller of Amarillo; son, Kyle May of Happy; 5 grandchildren, Haleigh Hix and husband Cole of Wayside, Megan Lange and husband Kolton of Exira, IA, Hannah Grady and husband Braxton of Amarillo, Kadee Calhoun and husband Karter of Bridgewater, IA and Kaden Guzman of Abilene; 9 great grandchildren, Bristal Hix, Travis Hix, Kinsleigh Cooper, Lane Poldberg, Briggs Hix, Jaxtyn Cooper, Knoxton Grady, Kiptyn Calhoun and Wrenlee Lange as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins left to cherish his memory.
Michael was preceded in death by his parents.
